Purpose
Raftervio.site publishes guides to help roofing contractors make better decisions about their websites and understand the online advertising rules that affect them. This policy explains how those guides are made.
Who writes
Guides are written and checked by our editor, James Wilson, a pen name used by the person responsible for the site's content. The editor is not a lawyer, insurance professional or licensed contractor, and guides are not legal, insurance or financial advice.
Sources
- We start from primary sources: statutes, regulations, agency guidance and the official help pages of platforms such as Google.
- Where we rely on a secondary source, such as a news report, a law firm summary or a site that republishes a statute, we label it "secondary source" in the source list.
- Where figures come from businesses that sell related services, such as agency price guides, we label them "commercial publisher".
- We quote short passages where exact wording matters, and link to the source so readers can check the context.
- We do not invent statistics, survey results, case studies, testimonials or client results.
Accuracy and dates
Each guide shows when it was last updated and when its sources were checked. Laws and platform policies change. We review guides when we learn of a relevant change and at least once a year. If a rule is unclear, contested or varies widely by location, we say so.
Corrections
If you find an error, an outdated rule or a broken link, email hello@raftervio.site with the page address and the issue. We check every report. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly and the page's update date changes. Significant corrections to a legal or regulatory point are noted on the page.
Commercial interests
Raftervio earns money by designing and building websites for roofing contractors, and the people behind the site have commercial interests in web design services. Guides mention our services only where they are relevant to the topic, and the guide content is written to be useful whether or not a reader hires us. We do not accept payment for placements, links or reviews in our guides.
Examples and images
Design examples on this site are illustrative concepts for fictional companies, labeled as such. They are not client sites. We do not present stock images or other companies' work as our own projects.
Independence of guidance
We do not change a guide's conclusions to make a service easier to sell. Where the honest answer is "you may not need this" or "a cheaper option might be fine", the guide says so.
Use of automated tools
We may use software tools to help with research, drafting or checking. Every published page is reviewed by the editor, and every factual claim is checked against the cited source before publication.
